Maurice Tebbel, son of the German Nations Cup rider Rene Tebbel , won gold at the European Championship for Juniors today. After the first round of today's European Junior Championships finals Tebbel was the only one with a clean slate, but he could afford no mistakes – as France’s Camille Delaveau had only picked up a time fault before the final round. Also Abigail Newbery from Great Britain, who had also just one time fault in the first round, left the German rider with little room for error as she closed off today with a total of two penalties on Valentino to eventually take home the bronze.
You could have heard a pin drop, as the young German rider rode his round on Cooper 75. He was European vice-champion in the pony championship, has team bronze in the bag and with the German team in 2010 in Jardy he won junior team gold. Maurice delivered as ordered with a performance that was worthy of a champion, and rode a clear round to claim gold leaving the silver to Delaveau. A Junior European Champion from which we will hear much more!
