When riding Oh d’Eole in the Grand Prix Saturday night in Wellington, McLain Ward took a bad fall in the combination after Oh d’Eole, a relatively unexperienced horse, veered to the left. Ward was taken out of the ring and taken to hospital by ambulance. He is now being attended by specialists at Wellington Regional Hospital, as he has suffered a compound fracture of the patella or a shattered knee cap.
Before the accident Ward has had a great start in Wellington with two wins already this week. The first one came aboard Oh d’Eole. We wish McLain Ward a fast recovery and hope to see him back in the saddle real soon.
