McVean sells Delphi for rumored multi-million amount

Monday, 09 May 2011

Delphi will in the future be seen with a new rider. Photo by Hanne Christensen.Katie McVean has sold her mare Delphi for an undisclosed multi-million amount. McVean was the big surprise during the World Cup final in Leipzig, and together with Delphi she ended up as an overall number six.

The ten year old mare by Leo Caylon x Brillian Invader – bred by Katie’s father – has been bought by the Saudi Arabian Equestrian Federation who will co-own her with a rider, who’s name is yet unknown.

Reports say that McVean earlier turned down offers of about $10 million for the horse. According to the website stuff.co.nz, McVean said the decision “was a very very hard one to make."
