Mo Chroi retires from the sport

Monday, 11 August 2014

Mo Chroi with Capt. Michael Kelly. Photo by Jenny Abrahamsson. It was a fitting farewell, for the famous 17 year old Irish Sport Horse Mo Chroi (Cruising x Mister Lord) in Dublin yesterday. Together with her rider Capt. Michael Kelly the mare won her final competition before retirement when finishing first in the Speed Championships at the Discover Ireland Dublin Horse Show. Mo Chroi has had huge success together with Capt. Michael Kelly and before than with David O'Brien, winning numerous international classes for Ireland.

Ireland's show jumping manager Robert Splaine said after the competition: "Mo Chroi has made a great contribution to the Irish team over the years and it is appropriate that she should go out with a win like this. She has carried several Army riders to victory over the years, both in Nations' Cups and Grands Prix, and it is a tribute to the Equitation School that they kept her and produced her so well for so many years. Mo Chroi is a typical example of a great Irish horse."
