Horse Sport Ireland has decided that Denis Lynch will not ride at the Olympic Games. The press release that came from HSI today reads as follows:
"HSI STATEMENT ON DENIS LYNCH AND THE OLYMPIC GAMES
Horse Sport Ireland has decided not to proceed with the nomination of Denis Lynch to represent Ireland in show jumping in the London Olympic Games. Horse Sport Ireland has now asked Show Jumping Team Manager Robert Splaine to put forward another combination from amongst his list of reserves."
The statement follows the disqualification of Denis Lynch's ride Lantinus from CHIO Aachen, where the horse failed a hyper sensitivity test. HSI has not included information on whether or not there is a connection between their decision to not proceed with the nomination of Denis Lynch, and the disqualification of Lantinus.
It was last Tuesday that Horse Sport Ireland first announced that Denis Lynch was one of two showjumpers jumping for Ireland at the Olympics. After today, another combination from amongst the list of reserves will travel instead.
