No one could beat Roger Yves Bost in Basel

Sunday, 15 January 2012

Unstopable; Roger Yves Bost and Castle Forbes Myrtille Paulois. Photo by Jenny Abrahamsson.Roger Yves Bost and Castle Forbes Myrtille Paulois (Dollar du Murier x Grand Veneur) did three amazing rounds in Basel Grand Prix and ended up as winners. The first round was really difficult, but with the best riders and horses in the world 18 managed to clear the round and go further to the second round. For the second round a totally new course was build which was just two fences shorter than the first round. Eleven riders cleared that round as well and went on to the jump-off.

Billy Twomey and Tinka´s Serenade (Tinka´s Boy x African Drum) were first to go in the jump-off and they did a fast and clear round which looked harder to beat than it really was. Second out was Christian Ahlmann with Codex One (Contendro x Glueckspilz) and he was faster than Billy, but the last oxer fell. Janika Sprunger had some unbelievable luck in the two first rounds with Uptown Boy (Odermus x Joost) who fought like a hero but in the jump-off two poles fell.

Marcus Ehning and Noltes Küchengirl showed everyone how it is suppose to look. Photo by Jenny Abrahamsson.Rolf-Göran Bengtsson and Casall La Silla (Caretino x Lavall) took over the lead but didn´t keep it for long as Marcus Ehning, who ended up in second position, was next to go. Marcus and Noltes Küchengirl (Lord Z x Cambridge Cole) presented three school book rounds today – fantastic!

Kevin Staut and Zeta de Hus (Zandor Z x Atlantus Z) were clear, but far away from the best times. Viking (Jacomar x Almox Prints) showed his capacity today and even though Michael Whitaker almost lost the saddle in the last turn they ended the course clear. Then it was time for the winner, Roger Yves Bost, to enter the course. He did a jump-off without once taking Castle Forbes Myrtille Paulois back and to the last fence he did several strides less than his competitors.

Rolf-Göran Bengtsson´s good form continues; he was third with Casall La Silla. Photo by Jenny Abrahamsson.Pius Schwizer and Carlina (Carvallo x Landgraf) had the second fence in the jump-off down and Patrice Delaveau with Orient Express HDC (Quick Star x Le Tot de Semilly) had the third fence down with his own leg. Marco Kutcher with Cash (Carthago x Lavall) tried to take five strides to the combination instead of six but the attempt failed and both of the elements in the combination fell.

We have to mention Eurocommerce California (Corland x Ramiro) with Gerco Schröder who did her biggest class ever and jumped it so easy. One down in the first round, which Gerco totaly took the blame for as he came way too big to the triple bar, stopped the mare from going on to the second round.

Cavalor Valentina van´t Heike with Jos Lansink is another one we have to mention. Valentina really showed her quality today, she jumped two rounds in a way that made our chin drop.

It was an amazing sport in Basel today and both the horses and riders really showed off!
