For the second year in a row, Katharina Offel won the Championat of Dortmund. Last year the Ukrainian rider won on Cathleen (Cordobes x Ramiro's Son I) – second in yesterday’s 1.40 opening class – this year the win came on B Once Z. The super careful mare by Baloubet du Rouet x Lavaletto is small, but had no problem around Saturday’s Championat tracks in Dortmund – jumping the fastest clear in the first round, securing Offel the favourable spot as last-to-go in the winning round.
As Katharina entered the ring to chase the clock, it was her former colleague Connor Drain from Ireland who was in the lead after a very fast and good round on Zidane (Germus R x Landwind) where he stopped the clock on 32.75 seconds. After great turns everywhere and a race to the final oxer – flying in on a big stride, Katharina shaved off 1.26 seconds on Connor’s time though, pushing him down to second. Third was Eva Bitter who rode two beautiful clear rounds on Perigueux (Perpignon x Stakkato).
In Braunschweig another strong lady rider triumphed as Janne-Friederike Meyer won the Championat on Grace (Armitage x Beach Boy). There were six clears in the second round, and the German rider managed to beat in-form Pieter Devos by fractions as only 0.04 seconds divided the two riders. Devos rode Dream of India Greenfield (Gem of India x Night And Day). Into third came another German rider; Jan Wernke aboard the lovely Forry Deluxe (For Pleasure x Landadel) and also the fourth place was taken up by Germany represented by Markus Brinkmann - securing a good result for the home riders in this class.
