We continue to present the Olympic showjumping teams and today it is time for the Swedish team.
Rolf-Göran Bengtsson just celebrated his 50th birthday and will do his fourth Olympics in London. In 2004 he was second with the team aboard MacKinley, and at the Olympics in 2008 Rolf climbed to the podium to receive the individual silver medal riding Ninja. Last year this couple also won the European Championship in Madrid.
Rolf will ride Casall at the Olympics in London and it will be the first championship for the 13 year old stallion by Caretino x Lavall I. Casall is owned by Holsteiner Verband together with Rolf. Celia Rintjes, who has worked for Rolf since his time with Jan Tops, will make sure that Casall get all the attention that he needs.
Henrik von Eckermann is born in 1981 and will ride the chestnut Allerdings. The plan for Henrik was originally to ride Coupe de Couer, the stallion on which he ended fifth at the Europeans in Madrid. The plan changed though, and Allerdings will get the chance instead. Both Henrik and Allerdings by Arpeggio x Diamantino will do their first Olympics.
Allerdings is owned by Henrik together with the legendary Hans Günter Winkler, who holds the record on winning the most Olympic medals in showjumping. Nanna-Rikka Neiminen from Finland is taking care of Allerdings.
Jens Fredricson will do his first Olympics at the age of 45 and his only championship experience so far was at the Europeans in Mannheim 1997. Jens will ride Lunatic by Landlord x Utrillo, owned by Marcus Lindblom. "It takes a Lunatic to ride Lunatic," as Jens said at the press conference in Falsterbo after settling the Nations Cup for Sweden. Jens' groom My Almqvist will follow Lunatic's every move.
Lisen Bratt Fredricson was Sweden's fifth rider to begin with, but after Malin Baryard-Johnsson's Tornesch injured himself in Falsterbo Lisen got to step in. The 36 year old Lisen will ride the 10 year old Matrix by Cardento x Maximus. This will be Lisens second Olympics, she rode the Olympic Games in 2000 with Casanova. Lisen is married to Peder Fredricson, Jens' brother.
Matrix is owned by Grevlundagården, Madeleine Mörner and Sandra Weil. Anna Grabmüller is making sure Matrix is well taken care of.
Sylve Söderstrand is Chef d'Equipe for Sweden for the second time. He was Chef d'Equipe in 2004 when Sweden won the Olympic team silver medal and now he has been in charge since the beginning of 2011.
