Penelope Leprevost leads the lap of honor in Bordeaux

Saturday, 08 February 2014

Penelope Leprevost and Nice Stephanie won the biggest class in Bordeaux on Friday. Photo by World of Showjumping. It was a very popular home win for Penelope Leprevost at the five star event in Bordeaux on Friday night, as France's leading lady rider went all the way to the top in the evening session's 1.50 class. Aboard Madame Geneviève Megret's success horse Nice Stephanie (Cardento x Ralme Z), Penelope came in as second last to go in the eighteen horse jump-off to steal the win after incredible sharp turns absolutely everywhere on the very quick 10 year old mare – who is a real winner for Penelope. When Penelope crossed the finish line the packed stands of spectators exploded in celebration as she shaved off no less than 0.39 seconds on Denis Lynch's time of 32.32 seconds.

The Irish rider had to settle for second after two great rounds on Abbervail van het Dingeshof (Nonstop x Jus de Pommes), while Great Britain's Guy Williams – who was first to go against the clock – ended third on Titus (Lancelot x Rex Magna) after putting pressure on those to come with an opening clear round on 32.77 seconds.
