Piergiorgio Bucci wins the three star Grand Prix at Outdoor Gelderland

Monday, 09 June 2014

Piergiorgio Bucci and Casallo Z on their way to victory at Outdoor Gelderland. Photo by Wendy ScholtenIt was Italy's Piergiorgio Bucci and the lovely Casallo Z (Casall x Carthago Z) that won the CSI3* Grand Prix at Outdoor Gelderland. After spending the autumn and winter away from the international rings, the 10 year old chestnut gelding is now back in top form – taking his first win for the season. The 1.55 class had five riders producing double clear rounds, but Bucci was the fastest one with his time of 36.11 seconds.

Then followed no less than three home riders; in-form Albert Zoer on Abra Kadabra (Vancouver x Calvados) – who had a time of 36.52 in the jump-off, Leopold van Asten on VDL Groep Zidane (Heartbreaker x Calando I) in 36.81 and Bart Bles on Lord Sandro DDH (Lordanos x Sandro) in 39.49. The fifth double clear belonged to Finland's Maiju Mallat on Armani The Gun CH (Abanos x Ramiro Z).
