Popular home win in Prix Merial for Louis Bouhana in Lyon

Saturday, 01 November 2014

Louis Bouhana and Qlandestin SAS won the Prix Merial in Lyon on Saturday. Photo (c) World of Showjumping.Louis Bouhana brought the home crowds to the edge of their seats and got standing ovation for his performance, when he won today's Prix Merial at Equita Lyon. The five star 1.50-1.60 class consisted of two phases, where the clock started ticking after the triple combination at 7abc. To win the class, it was necessary to take all possible risk – which included a very daring turn from the gate at fence nine to the vertical at fence ten before it was all about going for it in the fastest possible way over the three last fences.

Bouhana and the Qlandestin SAS (Elan de la Cour SF) had the French crowds cheering them on all the way, breaking the time down to an incredible 27.05 – a second faster than that of Doda de Miranda and AD Nouvelle Europe Z (Nelson Z x Jimtown) who set at early target time as number five in the ring. Abdel Said rode two brilliant clear rounds on Dakota (Cento Lano x Intermezzo) to take third place with a time of 28.86 seconds in phase two.
