Saturday, 29 October 2011

Hans-Dieter Dreher – who has had a brilliant outdoor season – and Constantin B (Contendro x Espri) won the Prix Merial in Lyon today. The 1.50-1.55 class had 41 riders lined up to compete for the win and ¼ of them went on to the jump-off. Dreher was the first to make it to the jump-off with a clear first round, and thanks to him the game was up from the start.

Dreher’s jump-off was extremely fluid and fast and almost a second faster than that off Beat Mändli and Colore (Contender x Lord) who had to settle for second. Last weekend’s “stunt-rider” Malin Baryard-Johnsson was third on H&M Reveur de Hurtebise (Kashmir van Schuttershof x Capricieux des six Censes) – also she double clear.

Dreher commented to on his fast time; “Yes, unbelievable! I really took many risks in this jump-off and my horse really gave everything so it worked out well.”

Later tonight thirteen riders will participate in the Equita Masters. Tomorrow it’s time for the third leg of the Rolex FEI World Cup in the Western European league in Lyon.
