Winner Steve Guerdat; “I just had to try today; I had fast riders after me. Rolf was last and he is on fire right now, so I had to take some risk and go as fast as possible. The mare was great. We are new to each other, but starting to get the confidence and we understand each other really well. I hope it’s not our last victory!”
Runner-up Kevin Staut who used to live outside Zürich: “I’m happy to be second; with one down you’re not often placed like this. After the Europeans Silvana HDC’s owner Xavier Marie said that we had to sell her, so with the Olympics in mind I went out to try and find new French owners. Luckily Patrice Delaveau’s sponsor Haras des Coudrettes bought her just before Christmas and secured her for the Olympics.”
Malin Baryard-Johnsson – placed third: “It’s my first time in Zürich, and I’m very happy about the result. It was a difficult first round, but my horse jumped fantastic. Steve rode a very fast round and has a quick horse so I had to try. My horse kicked down the side of the fence, but I would not have beaten Steve anyway,” she said happily and also explained that her first choice for the Olympics is H&M Tornesch who currently is having a competition break to breed.
