Quotes after the Furusiyya FEI Nations Cup in Aachen

Thursday, 27 June 2013

The man of the day; Gerco Schröder! Photo by Jenny Abrahamsson.Gerco Schröder on London, and on today’s course in Aachen; “I have to thank my horse; he jumped two fantastic rounds today! I changed my plan a little bit yesterday and did the big class on him. He did really well so I had a good feeling already then. It was a nice course here today, but everything maybe came a little faster than what we are used too here in Aachen and the time was quite short.”

Rob Ehrens on his team; “My crew fought back and did a marvelous job in the second round!”

Best of the Belgians Dirk Demeersman; “I have had a good feeling with my horse over the past weeks. For me it was a bit ‘now or never’ here in Aachen. I was maybe a little disappointed that I just went out on the time in the first round with so small margins, but my horse jumped fantastic in both rounds. For every rider it is special to ride here in Aachen, and I also live close by which makes it even more so.”

Ludo Philippaerts on loosing it on the last fence for Belgium; “I rode for the time after the triple combination – and came too big in to the last vertical.”

Ludger Beerbaum on the course; First of all I have to say congratulations to the Dutch and the Belgian team. They did a really, really good job and deserved to be 1st and 2nd. It was one of the best Nation Cup courses I have seen in Aachen. It was super, and not crazy, crazy big – and it created a dramatic class. I have to say well done to the course builder!”

Meredith Michaels-Beerbaum on Bella Donna’s foot in the water x 2; “We analyzed it after the first round, and decided I came in a bit too deep. Then in the second round I came in too big and had a fault again on the water. I’m pleased with Bella. It was the first Nations Cup here in Aachen for her, and she did a pretty good job.”
