Quotes after the Grand Prix in Oslo

Saturday, 13 October 2012

A very happy Marco at the press conference. Photo by Jenny Abrahamsson.Marco Kutscher on his win with Spartacus; “I was very surprised to win today as it was our first Grand Prix together. Our partnership is quite new since I started riding him in the middle of the year. He is big, but fast and has a huge stride. I tried to leave out a stride and it worked well. I was very happy to win this class again.”

Marco on the course; “I thought it would be more than 6 clears - maybe about ten. It was a faire course. I hope we’ll have nearly the same tomorrow.”

Marco on the future with Spartacus; “Our partnership has just started so we’ll have to see. But this was a nice start. His next show will probably be in two weeks in Hannover.”

Sergio Alvares Moya on today’s class, his new ride Carlo and the fact that he once again was the runner up; “I hope to come back next year and win! Today was very good and like Marco I was surprised with my horse. I’m really impressed with him. I also thought there would be more clears. Maybe 12 or 13 clears. The course was not massive, but faire on the horses.”

Carsten-Otto Nagel on his horse Cazaro and today’s round; “I have had him since he was four, but he was out for two years because of an operation. I did not ride good yesterday but today we had a good ride. I was not as fast as Marco, but I’m really happy.”Sergio had to send a photo of him and Carlo before the press conference started. Ole Kristoffer Meland - the best Norwegian rider of the day with a strong fourth place; “I’m very happy. I have never had such a scopey horse like this before and I am not experienced in these classes. I hope to do more of this.”

The course designer Terje Olsen-Nalum; “I thought maybe 10 clears today, but you never know. I tried to make it fair and put in a lot of canter. In the end it looked good. It was more down on fence number five out of the corner, than expected, but in the end I was happy.”

“Tomorrow we maybe see a bit better horses. We will try to make tomorrow’s course as we did today and hope to make a good class.”

The top three riders were also asked about the show in Oslo and what their thoughts were. All riders agreed on the fact that the arena is very nice for the horses, the warm up is better and they all like it here. Sergio misses a coffee place in the middle though and Marco misses Kingsland Bar! To sum up maybe a better place for riders and others to meet up should be a priority next year.
