Quotes after the World Cup in Bordeaux

Saturday, 09 February 2013

In the final: Hansi! Photo by Jenny Abrahamsson. After today's additional points all of the top three riders in Bordeaux are qualified for the World Cup Final. It will be the first final for both Hans-Dieter Dreher and Henrik von Eckermann - the latter riding on home soil in Gothenburg.

Henrik on being in the final: "I am so happy that I will be able to do my first final in Gothenburg - that is really special!"

Hansi on the track tonight: "France seems to be a very good country for me, and Uliano Vezzani's courses suit me very well. And now he told me that he will build the final in Gothenburg, so I hope I will have a chance there," Hansi said with a big smile.

On the question about how much Penelope thought about getting World Cup points when she entered the jump-off she answered: " I didn't think about getting points for the final, but just to do a good job and to be clear in the jump-off as I have had a tendency to have one down."

Hansi and Henrik on the plans for the time to come: "Now it will be three weeks that are a bit quiet, and then I will start off in Dortmund again," Hansi said about his future plans while Henrik explained that he will go to Hong Kong with Gotha, and then give her a little break before he starts to prepare her for the final. Penelope explained that she will do Den Bosch and Paris before the final.

Penelope thanked coursebuilder Uliano Vezzani: "Congrats for a great job. When we walked the course it didn't look that difficult, but it was hard enough and the faults were spread all over the course. It was very fair for the horses."

Henrik added: "It is so nice when a course builder can build a difficult course without making all the fences in full height and full wideness."

It was a long canter to the last fence in the jump-off, and the riders got the question on what the thought about that.

Hansi - "I like it, I like the speed!"

Henrik [laughing] - "I only like it when I find the right distance forward."

On the horses for the final, Hansi explained that he now has both Emabassy and Magnus Romeo qualified for the final - but he doesn't know yet which horse he will bring. Henrik will ride Gotha and Penelope will bring Nayana.
