Quotes from Chantilly

Saturday, 21 July 2012

Hans-Dieter Dreher and Magnus Romeo in Chantilly. Photo by Sportfot/GCT.The winner Hans-Dieter Dreher on the course: "The most difficult part was the last fence. He [Magnus Romeo] is always a bit spooky. But today he had not time to see it as we were fast. The first round was really, really difficult but there was more time to ride the fences in the second."

Dreher on his GCT ranking as 19th: "I hope I can ride all the GCT and qualify for Abu Dhabi at the end."

Runner-up Beezie Madden on her Olympic preparation: "This is a fantastic place to come. In order to stay on top form you have to compete amongst the best and that is why I came here."

Third placed Karim El Zoghby on his result: "I didn’t imagine I would be here. The horse belongs to a student of mine and he cancelled so I have only been riding Splendor for about two and a half to three weeks."

Edwina Tops-Alexander on her lead in the GCT: "There are a lot of changes after today. Denis (Lynch) is catching up, Michael (Whitaker) and Christian (Ahlmann) also which is fantastic. I am happy I am still leading up to the eighth round but there is so much that is going to happen over the next four events. I hope I can keep a strong performance and keep going and get better placings."
