"This is the third derby in my life! La Baule was my first start in a derby and that was hard for me, the next one was at Hickstead and there it went better and now I am here," said Olivier Robert very happy after his win in Falsterbo Derby.
Olivier couldn't stop praising his horse Belle Rock: "I rode a perfect horse. She has never done a derby before, but she was just perfect - perfect for everything! I just had her for five months, and before that she was with Michel Robert. But it is so difficult to keep good horses like this, so she probably won't be in my stable for too long. She is a perfect horse for a young rider and she might be sold already."
Captain David O'Brian said this about today's round: "It is a good course and I quite enjoy the derby. My horse jumped here once before with one down and today she didn´t do anything wrong. I was first to go in the jump-off so I had two choices - to set a time that couldn't be beaten but then take a lot of risks, or try to do another fast and safer round but still put some pressure on the ones after me."
Regarding the fact that the Irish horses were so good in the class today, O'Brian said: "Irish horses are traditionally brave and careful. We do a lot of hunting in Ireland and have much thoroughbred in the breeding."
