"It feels excellent to have won," said a happy Marco after the class. "It is always nice to win, but it feels great to win this Grand Prix. My last weeks weren't that successful, and not this show either until now. To win today as a DZ Bank rider was something special," Marco said in regards to the fact that the class was sponsored by the Volksbank and the Raiffeisenbank.
Marco continued: "It was also good for Cornet's Cristallo's owner as he has gone through a lot of ups and downs, and in the beginning mostly downs. So that we now won a Grand Prix is huge!"
Cornet's Cristallo is an offspring of Marco's previous ride Cornet Obolensky, so he got the question if the horses are similar to each other. "Both horses can jump, but otherwise they are totally different horses and not just in color and size. Cornet's Cristallo is very sensitive and easily looses his concentration and that wasn't the case with Cornet Obolensky, but he was more difficult to ride."
Pius Schwizer, who ended second, couldn't be present on the prize giving as he already rode his youngster in the next class. But third placed Jan Wernke was there, and said: "This is my best horse and I have been riding her since she was six. This year has started off great and I am so proud of her [Queen Mary]. I went in to the jump-off and started off by putting everything on one card and then at the end of the course I slowed down a bit and went for the safe since I had a great feeling about the time."
