Quotes from Zürich

Sunday, 29 January 2012

A happy Marco on Cornet Obolensky. Photo by Jenny Abrahamsson.Winner Marco Kutscher: “I have had a fantastic weekend here in Zürich; I won with Satisfaction yesterday and now today with Cornet Obolensky. It was really emotional to win with Cornet Obolensky today as he slipped here on the street two years ago and got a bad injury in his hoof so we didn´t know if he would make it back or not. I have to thank the vet that was here two years ago, he helped Cornet Obolensky a lot. And now, two years later, we are back here and win the World Cup.”

Marco on how he won it: “This was probably the best jump-off ever with Cornet Obolensky and I think we won it with the turn into the combination. There I took a big risk and made six strides which no one else did, but I need to take risks to win with Cornet as he isn´t the fastest horse. I could use Cornet Obolensky’s total capacity today, took a lot of risks and it paid off which I am really happy about!”

Runner-up Patrice Delaveau: “It’s my first time in Zürich. It was a difficult course here today, normally there would be 13-14 clears but today we only had seven. Marco was better than me today and deserved to win!”

Third placed Edwina Tops-Alexander: “I ended up third here last year as well, and my horse felt just as good today as last time! I wasn’t good enough to win today, but was happy with my performance. Marco deserved to win!”
