Quotes from the World Cup in Mechelen

Sunday, 30 December 2012

Jens Fredricson on the question if he went as fast as possible in the jump-off;  "I went fast but I did one extra stride two times and that was enough to loose some time. I secured a bit for the oxers. I really wanted those points since the World Cup final is in Gothenburg, Sweden and I will do everything to be there."

Francois Jr Mathy; "It wasn't my plan to leave the car to this guy even though he is my friend, but he was faster than me," Francois laughed and looked at Henrik. "I was first to go in the jump-off and I gave it a good try. I am really happy with how it all went."

Henrik on why he rides Gotha; "I am riding Gotha because my boss Ludger Beerbaum and Gothas owner Madeleine Winther-Schultze are really nice people. I rode her when she was 6 - 7 years and then Ludger started to ride her. Now one of my other horses probably is sold so I didn't have so much else to ride on and I got to borrow Gotha. We did our first show in Geneva and that was not so good. But this show has been good since day one."

Henrik about the jump-off: "I know that she is really fast. She turns really quick and I knew that she could do it. I'm not the fastest rider, but today also I could do it."

Henrik on the question how long he will ride Gotha: "I hope I don't have to give her back. For the moment I think that Ludger and Madeleine are very happy so I hope I might get to keep her. This was my first wc points but I hope I will be able to get enough to go to the final in Gothenburg."

Henrik on the question why  Sweden has been so good today and the last year; "Jens and I were really hungry to make it today. For the rest Rolf has of course helped the sport a lot. He has been doing so well and that has been pushing the rest of us to perform as well. And then we have a fantastic team spirit in Sweden and that also helps!"
