Here’s what the top three in Verona had to say after the Rolex FEI World Cup!
Sergio Alvarez Moya on his win and the only eight year old Zipper: “It’s amazing to win a Grand Prix like this, and it doesn’t matter with which horse! It’s even more positive to do it with an eight year old. I got him [Zipper] in March this year, and I really believe in him. This was his first really big win. It’s a fantastic horse; he is really powerful and careful! His temper was a bit of a problem in the beginning though, as he has a lot of blood. So, I had some trouble controlling his temper, but I like that kind of horses – when you get them on your side they really fight for you. I hope it will continue like this now!”
Luca Moneta on his second place and the somewhat special Neptune Brecourte: “I’m very happy with my second place, but I’m even more happy with the fact that me and my horse really found each other. I’ve been waiting a really long time to find a relation with this horse, and a lot of people didn’t believe in him. The biggest gift today is that we found a connection!”
Malin Baryard-Johnsson on her third place and H&M Tornesch’s comeback: “I had a really hard year, as I missed the Olympics when my horse got injured two weeks before the Games. That was my big goal for the year, so it was really hard for me. This was now our second show after he got back from the injury. I had a really good feeling in the first round today, and it was great going into the jump-off. When he is in this good shape he can be as fast as anyone!”
