Quotes from the winning team in Rotterdam

Friday, 22 June 2012

Ludger was on the winning team with Gotha FRH. Photo by Jenny Abrahamsson."It was a very exciting competition, all to the end. That speaks for the Nations Cup - we want excitment. The course was nice, demanding and technical,"said Ludger Beerbaum after the win. Luder continued: "I was originally number five on the team, but since Otto Becker and Carsten-Otto Nagel decided to save Corradina a bit longer as she hasn´t done so many shows yet I was lucky to get in the team. Now to sit here with the winning team is amazing."

Marco Kutscher got questions about the time allowed but of course also about his difficulties on the last fence. "One of the main things today was the time, especially if you had a horse that is a bit slower. But I didn´t try to go inside the time in the second round as I knew I could have one time fault, so I took my time."

"I was really lucky on the last fence. He stepped on his shoe some way around the course and normally he never do funny jumps like he did on the last fence, but he was a bit scared of the last oxer and I guess that is because he cut himself when he stepped on the shoe. He was bleeding quite strong after the round and that is why I didn´t bring him for the prize giving. But I don´t really know what happend so I still have to figure that out. But we was very lucky to clear the last fence."

Monte Bellini impressed! Photo by Jenny Abrahamsson.Marcus Ehning, who had his score discharged in both rounds, said this; "I could not help my team today but they did really well without me, so I am really happy to sit here today even though I didn´t contribut to the result."

Philipp Weishaupt rode the wonderful Monte Bellini today and of course he hopes that this round will improve his chances to go to the Olympics. "The Olympics is the big goal and I have been dreaming about it ever since I was a small boy. My horse is incredible and jumped really good today. I was actually a bit nervous over the last four weeks as I didn´t ride on the team during this period and my team mates did so good, but now when Monte Bellini did so well today I feel great."

The German Chef dÉquipe Otto Becker admits that he and his collegues are going to have a difficult job picking the Olympic team. "We are going to look at all the shows and the Sunday after Aachen we are going to make our decision. We are for sure going to have a difficult job since we have strong riders and at the moment it is looking really good for us."
