Robert Whitaker and Catwalk IV claim the win in the UAX Trophy at Madrid Horse Week

Saturday, 29 November 2014

Robert Whitaker and Catwalk IV won Friday's biggest class in Madrid. Photo provided by Oxer Sport.Robert Whitaker and Catwalk IV (Colman x Corleone ) took home Friday's biggest win in Madrid, when they went to the top in the CSI5* UAX Trophy. The 1.55 class was a qualifying class for the Longines FEI World Cup on Sunday, and had fifty riders in it. Only six of the pairs went clear and moved on to the jump-off, where nobody could do anything about Whitaker and the 11 year old stallion who left over three seconds down to runner-up Bruce Gooding with Cayenne 175 (Cartoon x Sheyenne de Baugy). Daniel Deusser and Pironella (Non Stop x Pilot) were the quickest pair of the class but one rail down put them down to third. The best home rider was Sergio Alvarez Moya, who ended fourth.

Earlier in the afternoon Jane Richard Philips won the Mitsubishi Trophy riding Dieudonne de Guldenboom (Nabab de Reve x Gibramino). The speed class saw no less than 24 riders going clear, but the Swiss rider was the fastest one in 56.22 seconds. Carlos Lopez followed 0.31 behind on Zephyr (Tolano van't Riethof x Goodtimes), while Luca Maria Moneta was third on Jesus de la Commune (Diamant de Semilly x Rocky du Carel).
