Rolex FEI World Cup in Stuttgart to Kevin Staut

Sunday, 18 November 2012

Proud winners of the Rolex FEI World Cup in Stuttgart. Photo by Jenny Abrahamsson. After an eleven horse jump-off Kevin Staut and Silvana could take home a new Rolex from Stuttgart after beating Marcus Ehning by 0,01 seconds. Christa Jung had built a course consisting of thirteen fences and sixteen jumps. The triple combination came as fence number six and was an oxer – vertical – oxer. Then the combination came as fence nine.

Meredith Michaels-Beerbaum was first to go in the jump-off riding Bella Donna, and her big jumping mare jumped amazing as always. Meredith produced a safe clear round in 52.41 seconds. Jens Fredricson was next to go, and he made some very good turns with Lunatic, but it still looked very safe although he finished the course almost ten seconds faster than Meredith. Marcus and Noltes Küchengirl were 0,01 seconds away from victory in Stuttgart. Next to go was Luciana Diniz her grey prince Winningmood. Luciana did a very speedy round and took over the lead as she crossed the finish line.

Marcus Ehning did a typical Marcus jump-off with Noltes Küchengirl. Everything looked easy and safe, but he was still faster than Luciana with 42.67 seconds. Denis Lynch tried his best with Abbervail van het Dingeshof, but was not able to threathen Marcus, Luciana or Jens with 44.42 seconds. Next out was Ludger Beerbaum and his eight year old ride Zinedine. Ludger rode a safe round as one would expect from him when riding such an inexperienced horse. Zinedine jumped very well and cleared the course at 48.82 seconds. Hans-Dieter Dreher started off really good with Embassy II but unfortunately one pole fell on his way.Luciana and her grey beauty Winningmood ended third. Photo by Jenny Abrahamsson.

Then it was time for Kevin Staut who went for the win wth Silvana HCD. Their short turns and speedy tempo was good enough to beat even Marcus Ehning on top form and it was a happy Kevin that left the arena knowing he had been 0,01 seconds faster than Marcus. Two fast riders was still to go though, but neither Christian Ahlmann or Penelope Leprevost could produce anything to threaten Kevin and Silvana’s result as Codex One jumped through the last fence, while Nayana had several poles down and Penelope even had to make a circle before clearing the last fence.
