Rolex IJRC Top Ten; Steve and Jalisca rise to the occasion!

Friday, 10 December 2010

Swiss rider Steve Guerdat won on home soil in Geneva when he took home the Rolex IJRC Top Ten aboard the SF-mare Jalisca Solier (Alligator Fontaine x Jalisco B).  Steve Guerdat and Jalisca Solier win the Rolex IJRC Top Ten. Photo by Jenny Abrahamsson.

A very much awaited win for Guerdat, who has had a lot of good rounds on Jalisca lately – but on many occasions has been a bit unlucky. Jalisca is for sure back to her very best, and as the only pair they delivered two clear rounds. The mare jumped extremely secure, and it was a well deserved victory.

Denis Lynch and the 12 year old Lantinus (Landkönig x Argentinus) were second after four faults in the first round. Eric Lamaze and the forever-winning Hickstead were third with four faults in the second round.

World nr 1 – Kevin Staut and Silvana de Hus (Corland x Widor) were eight.

After his win Guerdat said; “It’s been a long day for me today as I have waited for this final in front of the home crowd.
It got to my nerves, but when I started
jumping in the warm-up and felt how good Jalisca jumped I calmed. And I really think she deserved this victory as she jumped supreme in both rounds.”

Eric Lamaze pointed out that it’s been a long year for Hicstead with the WEG and everything else going on. “It’s been hard to know how to plan the work. Yesterday was a tough day, and today I changed his bit. I have been nervous before this class, but I am happy with the result. It was an unusual mistake for Hickstead in the second round, but that’s the sport!”

It was also known today that Rolex will continue to support the showjumping for another three years!
