Rolf & Casall La Silla on top in Basel

Friday, 13 January 2012

Rolf and Casall La Silla - here in Gothenburg 2011. Photo by Jenny Abrahamsson.Rolf-Göran Bengtsson and Casall La Silla (Caretino x Lavall I) took home the Championat der Stadt Basel Thursday evening. The number one rider on the world ranking opened the first five star show of the year by proving there is absolutely no coincidence that he is on top, and rode home 25 000 CHF as well as new ranking points to make him hold on to his newly possessed Green and Gold armband.

With a time in the jump-off that was 0.26 seconds faster than that off speed machines Patrice Delaveau and the fantastic super-scopey Ornella Mail (Lando x Alligator Fontaine), Rolf could yet again be first in line under the prize giving ceremony. Third in this 1.55 class was Jeroen Dubbeldam on the lovely grey stallion BMC Quality Time (Quantum x Cantus), who were slightly slower on 38.14 – 2.31 behind Rolf.

Earlier in the day Roger-Yves Bost took home the 1.45 class on Castle Forbes Cosma (Couleur Rubin x Peter Pan), while new star of 2011 Hans-Dieter Dreher and Constantin B (Contendro x Espri) won the 1.40 class.
