The 1.60 HRH Prince of Asturias Trophy at the CSIO5* event in Gijon went to in-form Samuel Parot. The Chilean rider rode the 10 year old Hurlevent de Breka-son Quick du Pottier to victory, and this was Parot's second win during his two days in Gijon. With a double clear round that was over a second faster than that of Abdullah Sharbatly on Tobalio (Numero Uno x Jacorde) the win went to Chile. Third was Dutch rider Leon Thijssen on Haerthago (Heartbreaker x Carthago), who was just fractions behind Sharbatly.
The 1.40 speed class was won by Brazil's Pedro Veniss. Riding Anaya St. Hermelle (Andiamo Z x Paladin des Ifs), Veniss left Laura Renwick behind him in second aboard Rembrandt Blue. In third came Roger Yves Bost on Castle Forbes Rosie (Kannan).
