Forty three horse and rider teams were at the starting gates at seven this evening at San Patrignano for the Adriatica Grandi Impianti Prize, a consecutive phase class with jumps at 1.4m.
The high level of riders gave quite a show, beginning with Swiss rider Janika Sprunger who gave way for a dog crossing the competition arena right in front of one of the final jumps in the course.
Belgian rider Ludo Philippaerts took first place on Tauber VH Kapelhof, a horse by his own amazing Darco, with a double clear and a jump off time of 22.84". Another Belgian, Francois Mathy Jr, already a winner in the first class of the day, this time rode a double clear and 23.08" on Polinska des Isles, a gelding by Diamant de Semilly
Third place went to Italian Forest Guard Corps member Emanuele Gaudiano, who last year rode to victory in the Vincenzo Muccioli Challenge Grand Priz on Chicago 84. On this occasion, Gaudiano rode Uppercut DS, a Bwp by Nonstop to two clear rounds and a jump off time of 24.06.
Federico Samaden and Isora Poggi, representing the network of antidrug volunteer associations which support San Patrignano across Italy and the world, awarded the winners at the end of the class.
"I'm really happy with how Tauber jumped today", explained Phillipaerts", The footing and the course were both excellent and the competition was certainly stimulating".
