Saturday impressions from Basel

Saturday, 14 January 2012

How did this happen? Ludger that ended third is higher up on the podium than Patrice that ended up second. And guys; you just won a lot of money, so please smile :-) All photos by Jenny Abrahamsson.

Michael Whitaker and Mr Darcy did their best to win. But unfortunately they had one down and had to settle for the ninth place. Look at this gorgeous gelding! Unik GS ridden by Werner Muff.Manuel Anon and Upaya were really good in the speed class on Saturday, but after this misunderstanding at 8a Manuel decided to retire. A bit unusual style for Pius...Paul Freimüller lost his reins after the first fence but managed to get over number two clear anyway.

Plot Blue is for sure back and jumped every jump, except from the first, fantastic in the big class on Saturday.

Another one who looked really good was Regina Z with Harrie Smolders. It is not very often that you see a piebald in the biggest classes, but Catapulte is an exception.Look at those hind legs! Ornella Mail was showing off as usual.Rozier and Akita in full concentration.Look at those front legs! Nippon d'élle and Roger Yves Bost.  We know that it is lot of Henrik right now, but he and Quibell did some fantastic rounds yesterday and we are so happy for him! What a fantastic match! Basel's armband for the Leading Rider has exactly the same colour as Michael's sponsor.
