Scandinavia rules in Scandinavium

Thursday, 24 February 2011

Geir Gulliksen and Lord II Z. Photo by Jenny Abrahamsson. It was a total Scandinavian domination in the two first international classes of Gothenburg Horse Show.

Home crowd favorite Rolf-Göran Bengtson won the 1.40 speed class of the day aboard a well jumping Kiara La Silla (Cardento x Nurprimus). The mare is not usually the fastest, but today the pair was 0.14 seconds ahead of Werner Muff and Unik GS. Another Swede followed in third; Peder Fredricson on C’est La Vie.

The other 1.40 class was won by Norway’s Geir Gulliksen on Lord II Z (by Landlord Z). He crossed the finish line on 23.05, while the always speedy Philippe Rozier and Ideal de Roy were second on 23.18. Sweden’s Douglas Lindelöw pleased the home crowd with his third place on the Swedish-bred Baloubet du Rouet-mare Balahe. Plenty of good riders and horses took it easy, and ended up with time faults – such as Billy Twomey on Tinka’s Serenade, Luciana Diniz on Winningmood and Rolf-Göran Bengtsson on Ninja La Silla.

The last class of the day – a 1.50 class – starts at 21.00.
