Sergio Alvarez Moya with Thursday's biggest win at Falsterbo Horse Show

Thursday, 10 July 2014

Sergio Alvarez Moya en route to victory in Falsterbo on Abab van het Molenhof. Photo by Jenny Abrahamsson.Spain's Sergio Alvarez Moya won Thursday's biggest class at the CSIO5* Falsterbo Horse Show. Riding Abab van het Molenhof (Nabab de Reve x Calypso I), the sympathetic rider took an early lead as number 16 of the almost 60 riders in the class – riding a very fast round over the twelve fence track that included two combinations half way around to stop the clock on 67.82.

None of the remaining riders could catch him. Closest came home rider Alexander Zetterman – who shows great form at the moment – riding Flecu (Hip Hop x Flamingo) to cross the finish line almost a second behind Moya to wild cheers from the Swedish crowd. In third came the always fast couple Harrie Smolders and Regina Z (Rex Z x Savoy Hannover) with the time of 68.97.

The 1.45 class was used to school for many riders, but some went fast and the winner was Germany's David Will on Roi de Berg (Ideal de Prissey x King's Road). Almost exactly a second behind was Alexander Zetterman riding Zidane (Sam R x Calvados), and then followed Olivier Philippaerts on Carlito C (Kannan x Romeo).
