Simon Delestre and the wonderful Ryan des Hayettes were not to beat in Friday’s biggest class in Gothenburg, a 1.50 class against the clock. The French rider and the nine year old gelding by Hugo Gesmeray – who has been with Simon since he was a five year old after he found him at Eric Lamaze’s – were simply in a class of their own, as Simon produced a super smooth and – as always – fast clear to stop the clock on 59.48 seconds. Ryan de Hayettes jumped the twelve fence track easily; so quick off the ground – again giving a demonstration of his quality.
None of the remaining 22 riders could catch Simon. Closest came the rider who followed Delestre in the ring; Switzerland’s Frederique Fabre Delbos on Nirvana Basters (Rosire Sf x Iris Landai) who rode a clear round on the time of 59.57 seconds. Third was one of the last riders in the ring; Germany’s Carsten-Otto Nagel on the lovely Holiday by Solitur (Contendro x Cascavelle) – who jumped yet another great round to stop the clock at 60.10 seconds.
Earlier in the day home rider Niklas Arvidsson won a 1.40 speed class on VDL Sheraton (C-Indoctro), with Carsten-Otto Nagel following in second and Roberto Cristofolleti in third.
