Simon Delestre and nine year old SF-mare Orphee De L'illon (Arpege Pierrville x Prince du Logis) were their usual speedy selves this afternoon in Doha; securing a win in the 1.45/1.50 final. The pair had a few slightly tighter lines than their competitors, and bettered Guy Williams’ time by 1.34 seconds. Guy Williams on his speedy mount Torinto Van de Middlestede settled for second, while Janiker Sprunger and JL’s Komparse set a smart pace with a time of 61.27 to take the third place.
“I was early to go and knew there were many dangerous top horses to follow me. The mare felt good and had already placed on the Thursday. I decided to go fast, but not that crazy as I was early in the draw. She is a winner! She has won 14 ranking classes in 2010,” Simon said after his win.
