Spooner is the Master of the Faster in the Grand Prix in La Coruna

Saturday, 17 December 2011

Richard Spooner & Cristallo in action in La Coruna. Photo by Oxer Sport.Richard Spooner & Cristallo (Caretino x Cicero) took home the five star Telefonica Grand Prix in La Coruna, Spain, tonight. The pair proved why they are one of the most feared couples to meet against the clock; beating runner-up Beat Mändli on Una Traviatta (Contender x Lys de Darmen) with more than two seconds in round two. The US and the Swiss rider were the only two out of the 34 riders in the class to ride double clear rounds.

Vladimir Tuganov from Russia ended up third on Amarock (Akorado) with one time penalty from both rounds, while home crowd favorite Sergio Alvares Moya came closest to Spooner on the clock but had one down on Wisconsin (Darco x Coriolan) to finish fourth. Denis Lynch had flown in from Frankfurt to ride this class on Lantinus (Landkönig x Argentinus), and will return to Germany tonight to continue to compete at the German four star show tomorrow. Lynch finished eight.
