Nick Skelton and his wonderful grey gelding Carlo (Contender x Cascavelle) won the Grand Prix of St. Gallen today. With a double clear and a jump-off time that was 1.25 seconds faster than that off runner-up Rich Fellers with Flexible (Cruising x Flex), Skelton could take home the top prize of 75 000 CHF.
It was the 54 year olds third Grand Prix victory on Swiss ground; in 1993 won with Dollar Girl in St. Gallen and in 2006 with Arko in the Grand Prix in Lucerne. Carlo and Nick were also on the British team that were placed second in the Nations Cup on Friday.
Christine McCrea with Romantovich Take One (Numero Uno x Oniel) was third in the class, which saw a total of 10 riders proceed to the jump-off.
