There is an exciting new international show on the calendar, as the Stephex Masters has been scheduled to take place at Stephex Stables on the 20-24 of August 2014. The show offers both three and two star class as well as youngster classes for seven and eight year old horses in beautiful surroundings – with the showground situated only ten minutes from Brussels Airport. "As a real Brussels-man, I would like to reinstate Brussels on the showjumping-map," Stephan Conter explains about the decision to organize an international show at his stables. "Brussels used to host a fantastic five star show, and maybe this can be the beginning to bring showjumping back to one of the greatest cities in the world."
Event director Frederik De Backer says; "With the Stephex Masters we want to create a weekend of top sport. We will have a competition ring of 100 x 60 meters, and a warm-up of 80 x 50m – so the facilities for horses and riders should be top. We also plan two competitions at night under the floodlights to make it even more special. The prize money will be up to the highest possible level for a three star show, and with this we hope to attract some of the biggest names in the sport before they travel to the World Equestrian Games the following week."
And that is not all; there will be plenty of fun as well. "We plan a 'Stephex Against the World'," De Backer smiles. "It will be a three-day-campaign with a battle between the Stephex champions Daniel Deusser and Eiken Sato, and champions in other sports – like three-time World Champion in cyclocross Sven Nijs – to see how strong our champs are against others."
And there will of course be an opportunity to be social as well; two nights with amazing parties and live music is planned in.
