Third was Michael Whitaker on Elie van der Kolmen (President x Darco).
The 1.45 speed class went to Sweden's Henrik von Eckermann aboard the Toulon-daughter Toulouse 66. Henrik was 0.43 seconds faster than Constant Van Paesschen riding Ralphy Utopia De Ransbeck (Ohio van de Padenborre x Darco), to runner-up position 0.43 seconds behind. Third was Nicola Philippaerts on Casana (Carano x Cassini).
Commenting on yesterday's results course designer Bob Ellis said: "The competitions went really well yesterday and I thought the CSI5* classes were superb. There was super footing and the facilities were unbelieveably good. It's a pleasure to build here really. We've had a few problems with winds blowing the fences down overnight, but on the whole it looks as though it's set fair now ready for today."
