Stylish win for Sergio in Massimo Dutti Trophy

Friday, 03 June 2011

Sergio Alvares Moya and Wisconsin win in Hamburg. Photo by Hanne Christensen. It was an appropriate win when Spanish rider Sergio Alvares Moya took home the Massimo Dutti Trophy in Hamburg today. Aboard his 12 year old Wisconsin (Darco x Coriolan) Sergio came in towards the end of the class to storm around the course on the scopey gelding in his usual stylish manner. The pair crossed the finish line on 57.87, to snatch the victory from Norway’s Geir Gulliksen.

Runner-up; Geir Gulliksen and Lord II Z. Photo by Jenny Abrahamsson.Geir went up in the lead a few starts before Sergio, and aboard Lord II Z he raced around the course to slot in at 58.43. The pair rattled the vertical at fence 10, but it stayed up. Another Spanish rider; Manuel Anon on Baldo DS (Kannan x Darco) rode a great round to finish up third – but a gasp went through the crowd as Baldo paddled over the last oxer.

Katie McVean’s former super-ride Delphi (Leo Caylon x Brilliant Invader) was out and about with new rider Kamal Bahamdan. They made a fine appearance, and only had the first fence down.
