Eric van der Vleuten and Wan Architect continued to impress today, taking home the three star Grand Prix in Drammen, Norway. After helping the Dutch team to a second place in Friday’s Nations Cup, Eric made sure to make it a win today with the 10 year old gelding that has gone from strength to strength under van der Vleuten’s superb guidance. Eric had one of six double clears in the 50-rider class, but with by far the fastest time in the jump-off at 36.51 seconds there was nothing to do about the sympathetic Dutch rider for the rest of the competitors. Suzanne Tepper secured double Dutch on top, as she ended second on KM Wish (Lux Z x Indoctro) with a time of 38.19 seconds in the jump-off. Sweden’s Royne Zetterman ended third on the promising 9 year old Echo de Laubry (Virus de Laubry x Feo), while it was a good day for the home riders who claimed the next three ribbons – with the best Norwegian being Geir Gulliksen on Edesa S Banjan (Toulon x Lys de Darmen).
The tree star Grand Prix in Munich saw Martin Fuchs on top for Switzerland. Fuchs partnered up with the 9 year old stallion Con Dios III (Colman x Romino) for the win, and had the fastest of the three clear jump-off rounds in this class. Runner-up was home rider Andreas Brenner on Showman 11, who was 0.98 seconds slower than Fuchs. Finland’s Anna-Julia Kontio ended third with Fardon (Corland x Mezcaler) with the last clear jump-off of the day.
The 1.55 three star Grand Prix in Lommel saw Sander Geerink emerging as the winner. The Dutch rider and the 8 year old Robinson (Rupert R x Odermus R) had one of three double clear rounds in this class, leaving Jeroen Appelen on Enjoy (Clinton x Pion) and Kim Thiry on Calisto van de Windheuvel (Kannan x Faylasouf) – both from Belgium – to second and third respectively.
Home rider Jerome Hurel made it a win in the three star 1.50 Grand Prix in Le Touquet. Aboard the 10 year old Jarnac-son Premier de Falaise, the French rider was the fastest of the nine riders in the jump-off with a time of 46.12 seconds. Runner-up was Abdelkebir Ouaddar on Quickly de Kreisker – a 9 year old by Diamant de Semilly – who with a time of 46.18 seconds was breathing Jerome down the neck, while another French rider ended third – Michel Robert on Oh d’Eole (Kannan x Papillon Rouge).
