Dirk Demeersman and Cicero Z van Paemel won the 3* Grand Prix in Aalst, Belgium, today. The class featured some big names, but it was the Belgian rider and his 12 year old Carthago Z-stallion that went all the way to the top. The pair had one of eight double clears, but in the jump-off they managed a slightly faster time than the runner-ups that were no other than reigning world champions Philippe Le Jeune and Vigo d’Arsouilles STX (Nabab de Reve x Fleuri de Manoir). The difference between the two riders were only 0.25 seconds. A little further behind in third was British rider Joe Clee on Diablesse de Muze, a 9 year old Baloubet du Rouet-daughter.
Yesterday’s small Grand Prix in Aalst was won by Harrie Smolders and Exquis Powerfee, ahead of John Whitaker on Argento and Penelope Leprevost on Nice Stephanie. Rodrigo Pessoa and HH Palouchin de Ligny have also had a good weekend; the won the 1.40 classes both Friday and Saturday.
Brianne Goutal from the US won the Grand Prix at the CSI3* show in Lons le Saunier, France, on Nice de Prissey. The pair had one of three double clear rounds of the day and took the victory ahead of British rider Laura Renwick on Oz de Breve. Another British rider was third; Daniel Neilson on the lovely Varo M.
At the CSI2* show in Hardelot, France, it was Timothee Anciaume who won the Grand Prix on Quorioso Pre Noir. Andre Roguet, also he from France, was second on Tina De Noyelles ahead of Babtiste Couperie on Felix De V.
