Sunday’s Grand Prix winners; Sergio makes it a double, while Christian continues his super form

Photo by Oxer Sport.Sergio Alvarez Moya made it a double in La Coruna, Spain, today – taking home the Grand Prix on Abab van het Molenhof (Nabab De Reve x Calypso I). This was Sergio’s second Grand Prix win in the same amount of days; yesterday he won the Telefónica Grand Prix on Carlo 273 (Contender x Cascavelle). The Spanish rider has not only enjoyed a super show at Casa Novas, but a fantastic indoor season so far – constantly being in the top three at the world’s biggest shows. Michel Robert continued his great form, and ended second on Nenuphar'Jac (Cumano x Pidayack), while third place went to Harrie Smolders on Regina Z (Rex Z x Savoy Hanover).

In Frankfurt it was world number one Christian Ahlmann that went home with the top prize in the Grand Prix of Hessen. Aboard the super speedy mare Lorena (Larenco x Romeo), Christian produced the fastest of eight double clears – crossing the finish line in the jump-off at 36.65 seconds. Jur Vrieling and VDL Bubalu (Baloubet du Rouet x Nimmerdor) ended second with the time of 37.68 seconds, while Amy Graham finished third on another Baloubet du Rouet-offspring – Bella Baloubet.
