Swiss rider Beat Mändli and Louis (Lord Pezi x Ultraschall) went out on top in Monday’s Amedia Grand Prix in Vienna taking home the 28.000 Euro first prize. But the Swiss did not finish there as Pius Schwizer and his wining mare Carlina (Carvallo x Landgraf I) finished second. The quality of the riders and horses in this class was high, and a win has never been so difficult in the Grand Prix of the City of Vienna.
Both Beat and Pius delivered two double clear masterpieces, and the results spoke for themselves; a clear jump-off on the time of 41.69 seconds gave Beat Mändli a class-act victory. For Beat this was the fifth victory in the Grand Prix of Vienna - a new record! Close behind was the winner of Monday’s Top Score class; Pius Schwizer on Carlina on 42.66. They pushed Meredith-Michaels Beerbaum and her Checkmate (Contender x Pik Bube II) to third place .
Almost exactly one quarter of the 47 riders remained error-free over Franz Mandl’s technical track. Two Austrians also found their way into the top ten – much to the delight of the home crowd; Stefan Eder on Chilli van Dijk and Joseph Schwarz jr on Olivia.
