Switzerland claims top prize in Bratislava Nations Cup

Switzerland is one step closer to taking a step back into the Top League after winning the FEI Nations Cup in the Promotional League in Bratislava today. Ukraine was second and Austria third, while Promotional League leader Sweden came joint ninth.

Hansueli Sprunger/Kepi de Valse, Martin Fuchs/Principal, Janicka Sprunger/Uptown Boy and Steve Guerdat/Nino de Buissonetts were left with only four faults after the first round, as Martin and Janika both delivered clear rounds. In the second round the Swiss team collected a total of eight faults, after four faults from Janika and Martin. Guerdat on the other hand was clear. One penalty ahead of Ukraine, which ended up on thirteen penalties – it was enough for the top prize.

All three riders on the Ukraine team delivered clear rounds in the second round; a proof that their recent qualification for the Olympics was no accident. Austria was third on 21 penalties. 

The overall standing for the Promotional League is not up to date after this leg, but as far as WoSJ can calculate Switzerland should now be on top of the leader board with 59.5 points. Click here for the standings (not up to date after Bratislava).
