Marcus Ehning’s wonderful stallion Sandro Boy (Sandro x Grannus-Granit) was retired today during a teary ceremony in Leipzig. Sandro Boy won the World Cup final in 2006 together with Ehning, and has several grand prix victories – including victories from Zürich, Frankfurt, London, Lyon and Hannover. Altogether the stallion has won a total of 1.2 million Euros in prize money.
Sandro Boy will now stand at stud at Paul Schockemöhle’s, and then enjoy his new life in the field at Ehning’s yard together with For Pleasure’s little pony friend Max.
“It has been a dream to ride him, and I’m happy he’s still fit and that I will be able to see him in the fields in the future,” Marcus said.
The stallion’s owner and breeder were thanked for their contribution to the sport through Sandro Boy, as was his grooms Kay Neatham and Eva Janzen.
