The "Bundeschampionat" in pictures

Wednesday, 05 September 2012

Toni Hassmann won the Bundeschampionat (German championship for young horses) for six year olds with Crespo PKZ (Cornet Obolensky x Landadel) after an incredible fast jump-off. All photos by Jenny Abrahamsson.

The Swede Henrik von Eckermann won with Captain Sparrow (Cormint x Barnaul xx) among the five year olds. That class was decided after two rounds where the quality of the rounds - how the horse jumped, how ridable the horse was, if it landed in the right canter and so on - decided who won. Gerd Könemann with Cornetto took the third place among the six year olds. Cornetto was one of many offspring's by Cornet Obolensky. Runner up among the six year olds was Hendrik Dowe with Cassinja S (Carinjo x Cassini I). Bastian Freese with DSP Araldik (Askari x Heraldik xx) took the second place among the five year olds. Interesting to see that both the horses in top had a thunderbreed grandpa. The European champion for young riders - Maurice Tebbel - had several horses in the finals. Here with Stakko (Stakkato x Embassy). The Olympic Champion in eventing - Michael Jung - was also well represented in the finals. He was third among the five year olds with this horse, Cardea (Caretino x Capitol).Jan-Phillipp Weichert with Caspari (Cassus x Calypso II). Michael Beckmann with Colestus, another son by Cornet Obolensky.
