The FEI European Jumping Championships for children, juniors and young riders

The winning Belgian young rider team. Photo by FEI/Michael Steiger. The FEI European Jumping Championships for children, juniors and young riders 2011 took place in Comporta, Portugal, this weekend. The Belgians took home the gold in the young rider team competition, while the silver went to Switzerland. Great Britain claimed the team bronze. The 18 year Nicola Philippaerts – son of top rider Ludo – won the individual gold on Carlos VHPZ (Chellano Z x Sara van Het Parelshof). Switzerland's Martin Fuchs on Beat Mändli’s former ride Principal 12 (Prinz Oldenburg x Globale III) claimed individual silver, while Germany's Katrin Eckermann on Carlson 46 (Casco x Porette ) got the bronze.


Italy won the junior team title ahead of Denmark, while Norway claimed the bronze. Virginia Caruso took home the individual title for Italy on Lune de l'Othain (Kashmir v Schuttershof x Hestia du Cha), while Turkey's Derin Demirsoy on Madick (Cortez x Phagelia) claimed the silver and the Dutch rider Demi Dijks on Tobias got the bronze. 

In the children’s championship, Ireland won the team gold medal. Lisa Nooren from Holland – daughter of Henk Nooren –  took home the individual gold on Ubalia (Indoctro x Mabalia).
