Andre Thieme won the five star Grand Prix in Gijon on Monday riding Contanga (Catoki x Contango). The German rider and his 9 year old mare were the only ones that managed a clear second round to take home the top prize of 47850 Euro. Runner-up on a one penalty score in round two was Simon Delestre from France on the lovely 9 year old stallion Qlassic Bois Margot ('Arc de Triomphe x Galoubet A). Third was Britain’s super talented Daniel Neilson aboard Zigali P S (Kigali x Palfrenie), also this pair with a one penalty score in round two. Fourth and fastest in round two – but on the expense on a pole, was another young talent; Holland’s Frank Schuttert on Winchester HS (Numero Uno x Nimmerdor).
