The IJRC puts clashing events on the agenda

Wednesday, 30 November 2011

The clashing dates of the GCT & the FEI Nations Cups have been discussed by the IJRC at the club’s meetings in Düsseldorf and Verona. The development with more shows is seen as a positive thing by the club, as it permits equitation to grow. However the club points out on their website that it’s important to never lose track of the basic principles that guide the sport: rewarding talent and commitment of those that practice it.

Concerning the ranking points the club states that it does not accept any influence by third parties on the Rolex Ranking points formula that is owned by the IJRC. This is why the IJRC will put forth a few points for discussion to the governing bodies of equestrian sports on this topic. The points include that the IJRC would prefer to keep the FEI/GCT agreement signed in 2007 also for 2012. The club is not in favor of CSIO/GCT clashes, and expresses that if only 50% of the GCT shows count for the overall ranking it’s possible to accept a limit the number of clashes. The IJRC is also of the opinion that the invitation system for the GCT has to be discussed.

The club states that is it necessary to go as deep as possible into the analysis to reach a good balanced solution. The club’s view is that the horses must come first, the sport and at the end the financial situation.
