The Mercedes Benz Championat von Hamburg to Bosty

Friday, 30 May 2014

Photo by Stefano Grasso / Longines Global Champions Tour.Roger-Yves Bost won Thursday's Mercedes Benz Championat von Hamburg aboard Quaoukoura du Ty. It was double French on top as Pénélope Leprevost and Mylord Carthago (Carthago x Jalisco) ended second, ahead of home rider Christian Ahlmann on Cornado (Cornet Obolensky x Acobat) and Sweden's Rolf-Goran Bengtsson on Casall Ask (Carentino x Lavall II) that tied for third. Thirteen of the 47 riders in the class went clear over the 1.55 track set by Frank Rothenberger to move on to the jump-off.

Coming in midway, Pénélope shaved off over two seconds on Ludger Beerbaum's leading time with some fast and tight turns. Both Christian and Rolf did their best to catch the French lady rider, both finishing on exactly the same time – but still 1.5 seconds behind. As last to go, Bosty took all the risks to take the win on the 10 year old Calido-stallion coming in over a second faster than Pénélope – shaving the time down to 41.20 seconds.
